Training

“I really loved this topic and learning more about the different way’s classwork/materials can be adapted. I found all the extra videos very helpful as they really made you think about how best to support your child with vision impairment.”

Training is essential to raising awareness and improving professional competencies in supporting children with vision impairment in education.

Angel Eyes strongly advocates that everyone involved with the educational experience of a child with vision impairment avail of training opportunities. Learners with vision impairment have the same potential to attain and achieve as other pupils, if provided with an appropriate level of support and access to the curriculum.

Please note, there is a waiting list for this training.

Angel Eyes NI has developed a Virtual Reality Sight Loss Simulator to increase understanding of vision impairment for parents and professionals.  We offer bespoke training sessions to education professionals supporting a child with a visual impairment in Northern Ireland. The training is delivered by an Eye Clinician specialising in Paediatric eye conditions and supported by an Education Advocate who provides strategies to support curriculum access.

The aim of the VR Experience is to:

• Empower professionals with greater knowledge of vision impairment.

• Increase understanding of children’s eye conditions.

• Increase understanding of how impairment of visual functions can impact the daily life and experience of children.

I learnt so much from the VR session.  It was an amazing experience. I would be very keen for my son’s school to experience this to increase their understanding and learn strategies to best support him. Thank you.
